Why Your Text Was Blocked by Content Moderation (and How to Revise It)

What the content moderation block means and a simple step-by-step to reword sensitive text and resubmit.

Written by Ivan Jackson

This article explains the "content moderation" block you may see while humanizing text, and walks you through a simple way to reword the flagged sections and try again.

What the message means

If you see this message, it means a safety filter in the humanizer flagged something in your text:

"Your text was blocked due to content moderation. Please revise any sensitive sections and try again."

It means the filter detected one or more words or phrases that it read as sensitive, unsafe, violent, or overly intense. This is not a bug, and it is not a problem with your account. It is a fixable step, not a penalty.

The message does not list the exact words it flagged, so you will look over the text yourself and adjust the parts that read as strong or sensitive. If you do not recall using any intense wording, there is no need to worry: a quick review of the passage almost always turns up the terms to soften.

A blocked submission simply asks you to edit your text and try again. If you humanize on the website, a blocked submission still counts as one request. If you humanize through the API, a blocked submission does not count against your API usage.

How to revise your text and resubmit

Here is the same fix our team walks customers through:

  1. Read back through your text and look for strong, sensitive, or intense wording, such as violent verbs or graphic phrasing.

  2. Reword or remove those specific terms, swapping them for milder, neutral alternatives.

  3. Paste the updated version back into the humanizer box.

  4. Click Humanize again to resubmit.

You do not need to rewrite the whole passage. In most cases, softening a few of the most forceful words is enough to clear the block.

A worked example

Take this sentence, which may be flagged for the words "destroy" and "kill":

"We need to destroy the competition and kill their profit margins."

Swapping those words for neutral synonyms usually clears it:

"We need to outperform the competition and reduce their profit margins."

This applies on the website and the API

The content filter runs wherever you humanize text, both in the app at writehuman.ai and through the API. It also applies on every plan. The fix is the same everywhere: revise the flagged wording and submit again.

If you think your text was flagged by mistake

Sometimes legitimate writing (for example academic, medical, or research content) can trip the filter. There is no appeal process for a content moderation block, and our team cannot override the filter or unblock a specific submission. The only way forward is to reword the flagged text yourself and resubmit. Softening the strongest wording, as shown above, is usually enough to clear it.
